Sensei Platt has logged several hundred hours of flying and train time travelling to such Asian destinations as Bangkok Thailand, Tokyo and Kyoto in Japan; Naha and Shuri cities in Okinawa, Beijing, Shanghai, Shiyan, WuDang Mountain, Canton, Hong Kong and the historical Port City of Fuzhou in China. This is the port city that Kanyro Higashionna first visited to eventually learn and bring back to Okinawa what was to become Goju Ryu from the famous Chinese Master LiuLu Kung. While in Fuzhou (1991), Sensei Platt had the good fortune to train with five Wushu masters who had combined training experience of over 200 years. During the 2004 China training tour visit to the Southern Shoalin Temple Sensei Platt was able to make CMAC part of the temple in a cultural exchange with the head Abbot, training at the temple with the head of the Yongchun Yiyun Wushu Society heart of the white crane system in china this was one of the highlights for the fifty CMAC students on the tour. Platt’s martial arts expertise includes Karate styles, Goju, Shotokan,
Shorinji, the internal Chinese systems of Pa Qua, Tai Chi, (weaponry) Kobudo,
Iaido, Arnis, Thai Kick Boxing, Daito Ryu Jiu Jitsu and Aikido. Sensei
Platt has trained and conducted seminars in such places as Canada, U.S.A.,
Costa Rica, Mexico, Venezuela, USSR, France, England, Japan
(1983, 87, 91, 92, 99), China (83, 87, 91, 92, 99, 04, 07), Hong Kong, Okinawa,
Teotihuacán Mexico
and Egypt. Sensei
Platt has had the honour to train with such notable instructors as Sensei
Peter Urban, USA; Eichi Meiyazato, Naha, Okinawa; Master Li Guang Fu, Taoism Society
of WuDang mountain, China; Master Cai Chu-xuab, Fuzhou China; Ji Zhuo Di,
Fuzhou, China and Hanshi Richard Kim. Sensei
Platt has had the good fortune to visit 4 times, the Butoku-Den in Kyoto,
Japan’s famous Martial Arts College also WuDang mountain, China,
location of the Purple Dragon Temple. The Great Wall of China, Beijing
also the Chinese Wushu Centre Fuzhou, China. Sensei
Platt is Chief Instructor of the Classical Martial Arts Canada (C.M.A.C.),
and with over 20 affiliates in Ontario, Alberta and Michigan and interfaces with other
International Martial Arts Organizations as an
all Canadian Organization for International events and seminars.
Sensei Platt has presented demonstrations to private functions, schools,
colleges, universities, tournaments, CFL football games, pre-game show for
the Toronto Blue Jays and Argos at the Skydome and also helped produce and
choreograph the “Masters of Self-Defence” show presented at Massey
Hall, done Tai Chi and Karate for TV Ontario, City TV’s Breakfast T. V.,
appeared on the hit show "Traders" and performed at the Burlington Sound of Music Festival. He received a
community service award from the Ontario Ministry of Correctional Services
for his volunteer work with the inmates of Maplehurst Correctional
Facility in Milton and Sensei Platt has produced over
100 Black Belts and
25 Branch Schools from the original Burlington Honbu location. Lastly, “The World Head of Family Sokeship Council” inducted Sensei
Platt into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame on Sept 24, 1995 as a result of
being nominated by Sensei Urban. Also November 3/2002 was graded to Ninth Dan
by Sensei Urban and on April 30/2000 was awarded the famous “E” flag
for excellence also presented by Maestro Urban who is the “Grand
Patriarch of all North American Goju Systems” at the USGA Championships
